If you really like one item of clothing then base the outfit around the colours of the item.
I really like the new HotBuys floral skirt which is grey and pink. I went to Basic's first for a strapless top. Then I looked around for a belt, I found this ribbon bow belt in Bisou. I felt like the outfit needed a bit more grey and found a cheap grey cardigan in Stardoll. It's ashame HotBuys are only sold to ss, but a good substitute could probably be found in basics or the other shops.
